I love finding new ways to use tahini. A few years ago, I saw @Kitchen_Lulu on instagram share a tilapia recipe with tahini and it worked out GREAT. This recipe is now a favorite in my dinner recipe rotations.
Ingredients:
4 Tilapia filets سمك تلابيا
2 tbsp olive oil ملعقتين زيت زيتون
2 tbsp butter ملعقتين زبدة
1 tsp paprika ملعقة ص بابريكا
Salt and pepper ملح و فلفل
1 tsp cumin ملعقة ص كمون
1 cup Greek or plain yogurt كباية لبن زبادي
2 lemons ليمنتين
6 garlic cloves ٦ حبات ثوم
3/4 cup Tahini paste ثلاث ارباع كباية طحينية
2 Yellow onion بصلتين
2 Green pepper حبتين فلفل أخضر
1/2 cup Green onions نص كباية بصل أخضر
1/4 cup Toasted pinenuts ربع كباية صنوبر محمص
Directions:
Mix yogurt, tahini, lemon juice, lemon zest, salt, and pepper. Thin out with water (1 tbsp) at a time if needed)
Sprinkle paprika, salt, pepper, and cumin over the tilapia on each side. Rub it into the raw filets.
In a hot skillet, melt 1 tbsp of butter with 1 tbsp of olive oil. Sear tilapia on both sides.
Arrange seared tilapia into baking dish. Slather tahini sauce generously over the eared tilapia.
Bake at 400F for 10 minutes.
Saute onions and green onions in the same pan until caramelized.
Arrange the cooked onions and peppers over the tilapia then garnish with sliced green onions and toasted pine nuts.
